A district and session court in Islamabad on Monday sent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Islamabad chapter's office bearer on a 14-day judicial remand to Adiala Jail in an alleged gang-rape case.

A woman was allegedly gang-raped in Islamabad on New Year's Eve by four men. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Sihala police station on December 31.

Sihala police arrested one accused and produced him before the court on Monday and sought arrest warrants for the other three accused.

The court issued arrest warrants for the other three accused and sent the arrested accused, who is PML-N's Islamabad chapter office bearer, on 14-day judicial remand to Adiala Jail. He will now be presented before the court on January 16, 2017.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz office bearers in the federal capital and police officials further confirmed that the arrested accused is PML-N’s general secretary in Islamabad.

PML-N lawmaker Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, when repeatedly contacted by Dawn.com, avoided commenting on the issue.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by police, the victim Amna*, who hails from Bahawalnagar, was living with her husband in a rented house in Ghuari Town, Islamabad.

"My husband is a tailor. He doesn't earn a lot so I had been looking for work to support ourselves and make ends meet," Amna said in her statement before the police, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com.

She told the police that she had gone to meet a man for a job interview.

"A week ago, I met [Suspect A], who gave me his mobile number and told me about a school he runs in Sihala. He then asked me to give him my CV and said he will hire me as a teacher in his school," Amna further said in her FIR.

"[Suspect A] called me for an interview in Sihala near the railway tracks on Dec 31. I reached the venue by 4pm. He then took me to a house nearby," she said, alleging once they went inside the house, the accused made unwanted advances on her and tried to make her drink alcohol.

"He threatened me when I refused to have drinks with him," she added.

"Soon after, three other men joined [us]," Amna said, claiming the men introduced themselves as MNA [Suspect B], SHO [Suspect C] and Judge [Suspect D] from Muzaffarabad.

Amna alleged the four men started drinking and raped her repeatedly.

She escaped the house around 6am when the four accused had fallen asleep.

An initial medical examination was conducted and the evidence collected was sent to Islamabad's Polyclinic Hospital for further examination.

Police had registered a case under Section 34/376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Name of victim has been changed to protect identity.

Names of suspects have been redacted.
