KARACHI: Third seed Farhan Mehbob and second seed Summer Anjum shot into prominence when they humbled top seeds as well as defending champions Farhan Zaman and Sadia Gul respectively to clinch men’s and women’s titles in the 10th DG Rangers Sindh National Squash Championship which concluded at the Rangers Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Thursday evening.

Mehboob lived up to his credentials while registering an authoritative 11-7, 11-6, 12-10 straight victory lasting 42-minutes over his opponent to recapture the crown after 2014.

This was the second triumph of Mehboob over his opponent in the recent past.

It is pertinent to mention that Mehboob had sent Zaman packing in the final of the Chief of the Air Staff international squash championship at Islamabad

Summer, meanwhile, avenged her last year’s defeat when she carved out 11-4, 12-10, 11-3 victory over Sadia in the final that lasted 24-minutes.

Mehboob received a winning purse of Rs204,000 while Zaman earned Rs124,800 at the prize distribution ceremony that followed the final.

Summer fetched a purse of Rs60,000 while Sadia took home Rs 42,000.

Cash prizes were also awarded to the winners and runners-up of other categories.

Maj. Gen Mohammad Saeed, D G Pakistan Rangers Sindh, who graced the finals, gave away the prizes. Also present on the occasion were squash legend Jahangir Khan AVM Syed Razi Nawab, Tahir Khanzada and Rashid Ahmad.

Men’s final: Farhan Mehboob (Wapda) bt Farhan Zaman (PAF) 11-7, 11-6, 12-10.

Women’s final: Summer Anjum (Wapda) bt Sadia Gul (SNGPL) 11-4, 12-10, 11-3.

Boys under-17 final: Uzair Raseed (Punjab) bt Zeeshan Zeb (PAF) 11-6, 12-10, 11-8.

Boys under-15 final: Uzair Shaukat (PAF) bt Rashid Daulat (PAF) 11-8, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8.

Boys under-13 final: Tayyab Ruf (Punjab) bt Waleed Khalil (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) 4-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-7.

Boys under-11final: Humza (PAF) bt Usman Nadeem (Punjab) 11-3, 11-8, 10-12, 8-11, 11-5.

Girls under-19 final: Noor-ul-Huda (SNGPL) bt Aiman Shehbaz (Punjab) 14-10, 9-11, 10-12, 11-7, 11-6.

Girls under-15 final: Amna Fayyaz (PIA) bt Noor-ul-Ain (Punjab) 11-5, 11-4, 11-5.
