ISLAMABAD: Aqeel Khan, Yasir Khan, Shahzad Khan and Muhammad Abid on Friday made it to the quarter-finals of the Serena Hotels Asian Tennis Tour men’s Singles here at the PTF Tennis Complex.

The longest match in 16 players’ draw of men’s singles was played between Yasir and wildcard entry in Mudassar Murtaza which was won by the former 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Other four who also earned the place in quarter-finals are Abdal Haider, Heera Ashiq, Ahmed Chaudhary and Muzammil Murtaza.

On the other hand, Mahin Aftab created an upset when she eliminated second seed Sarah Mahboob in straight set 6-4, 6-3 in the ladies singles semi-finals of the ongoing national championship.

Muzammil Murtaza continued his smooth sailing eliminating Abdal Haider 7-5, 6-3 in the semi-finals of the junior U-18 event while Aman Attique brushed aside Yousuf Khan of Peshawar 6-3, 7-5.
