'Robbers' kill SHO in Sukkur: police

An station house officer (SHO) in Sukkur was killed in an exchange of fire with suspected robbers on Monday, according to the police.

Robbers opened fire on a police patrol at a link road in the area, killing SHO Bagarji Syed Subhan Shah, police said.

Subhan Shah, critically injured in the gunfight, was rushed to Civil Hospital Sukkur for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The robbers managed to escape from the scene.

A search operation was launched in the area following the exchange of fire and several people were taken into custody for interrogation.

Sukkur SSP Amjad Ali Sheikh told journalists that an operation had been launched in Katchha area of the Indus River for the arrest of the attackers. He claimed that police had received clues regarding the gang behind the attack on the police officials.

Following the attack, police arrested as many as 13 outlaws, officials claimed.

Through these posts, the people of interior Sindh are always requesting the LEAs to launch an operation against the dacoits, criminals and other law-breakers, who are operating with impunity without any fear of being caught or killed. The Rangers is only limited to controlling lawlessness in Karachi and force is being denied powers to act similarly in the interior Sindh. In fact, the waderas and sardars, who hail from the ruling party in Sindh, are exceedingly involved in patronizing and harboring criminals and dacoit, therefore, they oppose expanding the powers of Rangers to cover the whole Sindh. Isn't it ironic that for last three decades, the travelers are travelling in Sindh under police convoys? The CM, who is a young and energetic, is kindly requested to extend the powers of Rangers through the Sindh, so that Sindh may become peaceful once for all.

Police have lost value due to the fact that since black sheep have been increased in the department and widespread corruption. a person who is appointed as ASI and then he reach to the level of inspector he has been milliner. Every one know them but no one seems to indicate them reasons is that they provide kickbacks to seniors. The department has been politicized resulting fear is lost among criminals and cause attacks to the police personnel. Role of police should be neutral but here in our country police seems party reason being behind posting of SHO is hand of feudal lord or tribal head so they arrest and release the people to please their private head. Department need major operation and to weed the corrupt out from the organization otherwise no desired results could expected. Initial appointments merit may be given top prosperity. During posting of District Chief or area head i.e. SHO consent to respectable people of the area to be ensured, this shall bring change.
