ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) on Thursday confirmed the bail petition for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Minister Ali Amin Gandapur against a Rs100,000 surety bond in an alcohol and unlicensed weapons recovery case.

Mr Gandapur has been on interim bail in this matter since last month.

The capital police registered a case against him after allegedly recovering liquor from his vehicle near Banigala while the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was preparing to lockdown Islamabad.

The court accepted Mr Gandapur’s bail plea and ordered him to deposit the aforementioned sum as a surety bond.

The court also granted post-arrest bail to the former CEO of Elysium Holdings Pakistan, Waseem Aslam Butt, in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Islamabad scam.

An IHC division bench of justices Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Athar Minallah granted bail to Mr Butt, a suspect in the case, and accepted his bail plea against a surety of Rs3 million.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested three suspects – former DHA project director retired Col Sabahat Qadeer Butt, former DHA administrator retired Brig Javed Iqbal and Mr Butt – for allegedly causing huge losses after illegally selling non-saleable project certificates in violation of the contract between DHA and Elysium Holdings.

NAB also accused Mr Butt of not paying landowners.

In his bail plea, Mr Butt accused Kamran Kayani, Amjad Kayani and Baber Kayani – brothers of former chief of army staff retired Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani – and DHA Islamabad officials of wrongdoing.

In addition to accepting his plea, the court also directed Mr Butt to appear before the trial court regularly.
