KARACHI: Mirpurkhas, district West and district East registered victories in the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Cup basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Saturday.

Mirpurkhas shocked Hyderabad 30-23 in a low-scoring group “B” match. The winners led 14-8 at half-time.

M. Haris turned out to be outstanding for the winners with 14 points. Ehsan and Aijaz contributed four and three points apiece. Ali Raza shone for the losers with 13.

District West outplayed district Central 54-20 in the second match of the day.

The winners led 34-13 at breather.

Talha Amjad was the pick of the match scoring 18 points. He was ably assisted by Umer and Danish who scored 10 and seven respectively. Usman top scored for the losers with eight.

In the third match, district East opened their account on a winning note by getting the better of district Malir. The winners enjoyed 24-16 lead at half time.

Zia, Mubashir and Talha starred for the winning out scoring 12, 10 and eight points respectively while Nadeem and Shahmeer scored 12 and 10 respectively for the losers.
