LAHORE: Muzamil Murtaza and Aman Attique Khan reached the boys final while Nooh Malik and Shimza Tahir qualified for the girls final after winning their respective semi-finals in the first Sonex Junior Tennis Championships at the Bagh-i-Jinnah courts here on Friday.

The finals will be played on Saturday.

Muzamil trounced Barkatullah 6-2, 6-1 in the first semi-final of the day which lasted for 35 minutes.

Aman ousted Saqib Umer 6-3, 6-1.

Noor, daughter of Davis Cupper Rashid Malik, faced little opposition from Maheen Khan and won the match 6-0, 6-1.

Shimza overcame the challenge of Esha Jawad with the score of 6-4, 6-0.

In the under-18 boys’ doubles semi-finals, Muzamil pairing with Abdal Haider defeated Barkatullah/Asadullah 6-2, 6-2 while Aman/Shahibzada M. Ali outclassed Hafiz Arbab Ali/Shakir Ullah 6-3, 6-3.

In the U-14 semi-final, Mohammad Shoaib beat Subhan bin Salik 6-1, 6-0. The second semi-final was not completed till filing of this report.

In the U-12 semi-finals, Sami Zeb beat Hassan Ali 8-5 and Hamid carved out victory against Uzair Khan 7-5.
