Depp to star in the Fantastic Beasts sequel

Johnny Depp’s set to work some magic onscreen after signing up to star in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

According to the reports, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star will also make a cameo in the first film, released on November 18! Details of his character are being kept under wraps, although the movie already has a release date of November 16, 2018.

It’s thought it’ll be the second in a potential quintet of movies, with JK Rowling recently revealing she had planned scripts for five Fantastic Beasts films — and Eddie Redmayne once again working his own magic as Newt Scamander.

New iPhone emoji have arrived

Good news for emoji lovers, a bunch of new icons have just become available on the iPhone. So users of iPhone will now be able to shrug their shoulders, cross their fingers, etc., using the cartoon humans.

Apple has introduced the new icons as part of an update for its iPhone developer software. Users will also get several new emojis of different professions, including firefighters and astronauts. David Bowie fans are also in for a treat as there’s one that looks just like the cover of Alladin Sane.

A lot of the icons have been redesigned and now look fancier.

Emojimovie: Express Yourself

Sony Pictures Animation started its promotional push for Emojimovie: Express Yourself by releasing new story and casting details as well as an image of the main characters.

The film will tell the story of Gene (voiced by T.J. Miller), a multi-expression emoji who stands out from the other single-facial-expression emojis because he was “born without a filter.” He enlists the help of his friend Hi-5 (James Corden) as well as code-breaker emoji Jailbreak (Ilana Glazer) to help him become “normal” like the other emojis.

The journey to normality involve threats to the entire emoji universe, thus travelling through different mobile apps, the latter being a plot device that can be seen as either a 90-minute commercial for mobile apps or, as Sony puts it, an “app-venture.”

Columbia Pictures will release Emojimovie: Express Yourself in the US theatres on August 11, 2017. It remains to be seen how audiences will express themselves at the box office.
