A passenger van plunged over a cliff killing at least 10 and injuring a dozen people in Sherani district of Balochistan, it has been learnt.

"A packed passenger van was travelling from Lamara Qala to Darandaza Bazar when it fell off a cliff," said an official of the Khasadar Force.

"At least 10 people including women and children were killed, however, the exact number of women and children could not be reconciled," the official added.

The official further revealed that all the deceased belong to Sherani tribe and were resident of Lamar Qala village.

The injured also included women and children, who were rushed to Drazanda Bazar hospital and then transferred to D I Khan hospital for further treatment.

Sherani district is located on mountainous border of Balochistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP).

"Vans used in area have sitting capacity of only eighteen people but transporters make passengers sit on the roof of vans," said a local residing in the area.
