KARACHI, Dec 12: Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat on Friday laid foundation stone of a girls college in Azam Basti, Mehmoodabad, which will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs29.877 million.

Moreover, the minister also inaugurated construction of primary boys and girls schools in Jonejo Town at an estimated cost of Rs1.312 million each, besides, he announced upgrading of a primary school to the level of middle school in the town. He also laid foundation stone of a five-room primary school in Manzoor Colony at an estimated cost of Rs2.296 million.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said a drainage scheme would also be inaugurated in Junejo Town, next week, and construction of 14 street roads would also be undertaken, besides this a women’s park had been included in development schemes as well, on which the work would be initiated in the next three days.

He said that Sindh chief minister had earmarked additional Rs15 million for development works in the constituency, which would be spent on water supply, sewerage, and road and streets’ construction schemes.

Mr Marwat further said that 16 new transformers were being installed in Azam Basti, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony and Jonejo Town, with the co-operation of the KESC to overcome power shortage in these localities.

The two primary boys and girls schools at Akhtar Colony had been upgraded to the secondary level, he said, adding that work on a bridge to link Akhtar Colony and Jonejo Town would also be undertaken.—PPI
