KARACHI: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) of police on Friday claimed to have arrested four alleged kidnappers, including two women, and safely recovered a four-year-old kidnapped boy from them.

CPLC chief Zubair Habib and AVCC SSP Tariq Dharejo, speaking at a joint press conference at the latter’s office, said the boy, Tayab Rabnawaz, was kidnapped while playing outside his home in Shirin Jinnah Colony on Oct 17. Next day, the parents lodged his kidnapping FIR with the Jackson police station and the case was referred to the CPLC and the AVCC.

In the meantime, on Oct 19, the parents received a phone call, in which the caller demanded Rs200,000 ransom for releasing the boy.

The both organisations with use of modern technology traced the call but the suspect switched off his mobile phone and started calling from different cell phone numbers.

The CPLC and the AVCC in a joint raid arrested Fauzia and Rukhsana, Salman and Shaharyar in Shirin Jinnah Colony and Gulshan-i-Maymar, respectively and recovered the boy safely.

The officials said that Fauzia was the mastermind behind the kidnapping of the boy and was a resident of the same area in Shirin Jinnah Colony. She had kidnapped the boy and handed him over to other suspects, the officials added.
