West Indies heavy hitter Chris Gayle is excited to be a part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) a second time and promises to entertain his Pakistani fans.

"I just want to say, I love you all and thanks for the support. Chris Gayle will try and entertain you guys as much as possible and keep hitting sixes, and make you all happy at the end of the day."

In an exclusive interview with DawnNews, Gayle said he was happy to be drafted by the Karachi Kings for PSL2 and will do his part to ensure the team performs well after the Kings put on a disappointing show in the first season of the PSL.

"It's fantastic to be a part of the PSL a second time," he said.

The Windies batsman said he felt for Pakistani cricket fans who had been deprived of international cricket since the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.

Gayle praised them for their support and their role in making the PSL successful. "I appreciate your support... You've been with us through thick and thin," he said.

Gayle said he was trying to learn Urdu too and hoped those who team him would only teach him 'good' words. "Don't teach me the bad words," he laughed.

Earlier during a press conference, Gayle thanked Shoaib Malik and the Karachi Kings for drafting him. The Kings look like a balanced team, he said, and was optimistic they would perform better this time around.

Gayle added that as his performance in Tests and One-Day Internationals was equally good, he did not want to be known just as a T20 king.

During the Karachi Kings press conference, Shoaib Malik announced that former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara will lead the Karachi Kings in PSL2 ─ a decision he said was in the benefit of the team.

The PSL2 final will be played in Lahore.
