The Supreme Court on Friday changed the date of a hearing on the Panamagate petitions filed against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his family members and others by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) to Nov 1, DawnNews reported.
The case had been adjourned for two weeks after a hearing on Thursday. The new date falls just a day before the PTI's scheduled 'lockdown' of Islamabad on Nov 2.
A three-member bench of the apex court will hear all five petitions filed by PTI leaders and ordered the concerned parties to bring their National Identity Cards with them for the hearing.
The SC issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Capt (R) Safdar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, director general Federal Investigation Agency, chairman Federal Board of Revenue, and the Attorney General Aushtar Ausaf Ali during Thursday's hearing.
The SC bench comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain had taken up petitions seeking the disqualification of the PM and his family members filed by the PTI, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Barrister Zafarullah Khan of Watan Party, AML chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Advocate Asad on Thursday.
Following the hearing, PTI chief Imran Khan vowed to bring "king" Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif under law, asserting "justice delayed is justice denied."
Prime Minister Nawaz welcomed the Supreme Court's decision on the case.

Thanks SC, still it is late 1 Nov, for the unity and dignity of Nation it should be 25 oct 2016 to avoid this Islamabad locked problem. also daily basis proceeding with out further delay.

@Omer bin Khitab A hearing on Nov. 1 doesn't mean the case will be decided that day and its all over! The proceedings will continue with argument and rebuttles and counter-arguments for weeks and months.

@Omer bin Khitab - The courts usually have hundreds or maybe thousands cases pending on the docket at any given time. Sometimes only one case is heard in a single day, and sometimes dozens, depending on their complexity.
Asking for 'daily proceedings' is naive. Courts have to accommodate other cases, and judges have other obligations outside the courts as well..Very rarely and in extremely urgent matters (one in a thousand perhaps) will the court schedule hearings on a daily basis.

At last SC has realised and have taken action. They had the ample powers to convert NZ application to constitute a commission or act under article 184 of constitution and saved the nation from the stress of lies spoken by the politicians. if government has delayed in holding an enquiry the opposition is also guilty of approaching the SC late at this stage. No body is interested in strengthening the institutions and ithsab. They are playing games in their constituencies to snatch and retain the power.

@Omer bin Khitab SC has to prove that nobody is above the Law and set an example for the whole nation, it's politicians and the world by taking into account the corrupt and dishonest rulers and by awarding them exemplary punishments so nobody in future should dare to repeat this kind of unpatriotic and anti-people interest rule in future and should also disqualify them for holding any Government Position in future.

@Tariq The SC decision is always final which has to be just implemented. It is not an election result which is sometimes rigged in corrupt countries and therefore can be questioned and not accepted. The Judges of the Supreme Court are men/women of high integrity and very knowledgeable.
