The cash prize of Rs0.450 million was given away to head of each of the 25 schools — 19 for boys and six for girls — by MPA Bibi Fozia and district nazim Maghfirat Shah at a function here on Tuesday.

She said that the department of education was purged from political influence and started producing results to pave way for improving quality of education in government schools.

“As many as 8,000 vacancies of teachers were filled through transparent competition process in the province while Rs250 million was spent on the improvement of school buildings only in Chitral district,” said the MPA.

Speaking on the occasion, Maghfirat Shah eulogised the teachers and heads of the best performing schools. He said the district government was also giving top priority to education sector.
