Woman gang-raped by MPA’s son, his men

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A ruling party MPA’s son along with his two friends allegedly kidnapped a woman and gang-raped her on Friday night in Zahirpir Town on national highway, some 73-km from here.

A woman of Bhatti Colony on Saturday filed an application with Saddar Khanpur police, alleging that the MPA’s son along with his accomplices entered her house, bundled her into a car, took her to a building located at Kotla Meeran and gang-raped her.

Saddar SHO Muhammad Iqbal called the suspect to the police station and quizzed him. In the meantime, a number of MPA’s supporters gathered outside the police station in an alleged bid to pressurise the police not to register the case.

The MPA said: “We have nothing to do with the incident and the woman has already filed applications against different people.”

DPO Zeeshan Asghar said police called the suspect to the police station for initial investigation and the case would be registered after medical report.

This is an opportunity for the government to show what women rights really are, I could careless who the guilty person(MPA's son) is, judgement should be clear and swift if found guilty, so anyone thinking about such act, would think twice. At the end of the day, what happens to the perpetrators is whats going to define our justice system if we care so much about the women rights.

Nothing to do to file a case. Medical report is carried afterwards to support the case. One question, on whose instigation medical report would carried and when?

@Corporal Panday such remarks (congratulations) actually work as a source of encouragement for the police force; which is seldom done by the elite they serve, so praise, though a little, plays a role in countries where Govts are tolerant about crimes.

The FIR should have been entered IMMEDIATELY, and then the investigation should have been conducted according to forensics. This way, things are completely recorded in chronological order as memory can fade with time, esp under traumatic conditions and event order can get mixed up.

Its not really about the crimes being committed by the ordinary and the elite, its the double standard that being displayed, its nothing new. If the judiciary branch can set some good examples by convicting the alleged, it sure would gain a lot of respect for our justice system. The elite and the powerful have no fear, which tells me that they have no respect for law.

Time that all Pakistanis come out and protest to ensure that this MPA's son and shielding MPA to get their deserved harshest punishments. Remember how Indians compelled their government to take action with candle light vigils for Jessica Lal murder, for the Delhi Nirbhaya/Jyoti rape case to give exemplary punishments to the culprits? I remember Pakistanis also held a vigil for the latter, so please do the same for your own daughter.
