SWABI, Dec 9: There are bright employment prospects for Pakistani IT professionals/engineers in South Korea and the Korean government has chalked out a long-term policy in this connection.

This was stated by Pakistan Ambassador to Seoul Syed Pervez Hussain and members of the Korean delegation who visited the Ghulam Ishaq Institute for Engineering, Sciences and Technology on Tuesday.

The Korean delegation comprised the deputy director in the ministry of IT, Ha Byun Joon; senior manager of the Association of Korean IT companies; Kim Byung Hee, manager Hong Seok Jae, and Song Eui Sop.

Mr Joon told reporters that during President Pervez Musharraf’s recent visit to Korea the two countries had agreed to cooperate with each other in various fields and added that the Korean companies would hire Pakistan IT engineers.

He said the purpose of their visit was to see distinguished institutions here and formulate a long-term policy for employing engineers from Pakistan.

Mr Hee said they had got detailed information and were looking forward to hiring IT professionals from Pakistan. He described the academic atmosphere in the GIK Institute as excellent.

Mr Hussain hoped that the Koreans’ visit would open new vistas for Pakistani professionals. He called upon universities/institutions to produce first class professionals keeping in mind the competition in the international markers.

The Korean government, he pointed out, had decided to provide E-7 visa to foreign professionals.

Earlier, the dean of Computer Science and Engineering, Mahboob Yasin, gave a briefing to the delegation about the GIK Institute.
