KARACHI: Special children entertained

Published December 9, 2003

KARACHI, Dec 8: More than a hundred handicapped children had fun for a couple of hours at a function organized at an elite city club on Monday.

The event was organized by noted painter and social worker Jimmy Engineer who under his programme “Fun and Food for the Special Children” regularly takes around 100 handicapped children to five star hotels, elite city restaurants and clubs at least once a month so that they too could have some clean fun.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Engineer said he planned to establish a club for the special children.

He had taken up the matter with Karachi’s Deputy Nazim Tariq Hassan who had promised to assist him in the project, he said.

M. Taqi Iqbal of Karachi Gymkhana said he too would assist the social worker in establishing a club for the handicapped children.

Earlier, students from the Ida Rieu School and College for the Deaf and Blind, Scinosa, Asra, Aaghosh, Madawa, Darul Sukoon and Darul Khushnood presented tableaus or sang songs. Cash prizes were given to all the children who had taken part in the event.
