KARACHI, Dec 8: Syed Saeed Hasan, Additional District and Sessions Judge, South-I and Judge Suppression of Terrorist Activities on Saturday confirmed bail before arrest of Ameer Haider Kazmi, a former federal health minister.

Mr Kazmi is an accused in a case of firing on six MQM camps in August 1990 in which more than a dozen people died while a similar number of people sustained injuries.

Syed Amjad Ali Shah, advocate, appearing for the accused/ applicant prayed to the court to confirm the bail of the accused submitting that it was a case of no evidence and the accused is not likely to be convicted.

The matter is now 12 years old, he submitted, adding that except for Bilal Shaikh, all the other accused including Asif Ali Zardari, Manzoor Wassan, Shahnawaz Junejo, Munawwar Suharwardy, Razi Haider, Ali Sonara and others have been acquitted of the charges under section 497-A Cr.P.C.

The trial court judge after hearing the counsel, confirmed the pre-arrest bail granted to the accused/applicant and ordered trial of the case on regular basis.—APP
