ISLAMABAD: A police official was demoted in punishment for misbehaving with a woman, police said.

A woman lodged a complaint at the Islamabad Traffic Police Headquarters stating that an assistant sub-inspector, on duty on Faisal Avenue Chowk on Friday, misbehaved with her.

An inquiry was ordered into the incident, and the superintendent of traffic police, Khalid Rasheed, was tasked with investigating the matter.

Police said Mr Rasheed called the complainant and the assistant sub-inspector into his office to hear their explanations, and the inquiry found the police official guilty. Mr Rasheed recommended his demotion as punishment.

In light of the inquiry and the superintendent’s recommendation, the official was demoted to head constable, they added.
