CHARSADDA: Police shot dead an alleged killer of 19 people in an encounter here on Sunday. The deceased was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Tangi tehsil later in the day.

Shergarh police SHO Pervez Khan told media persons that they had information that PO Gulab Ahmed Syed along with two other accomplices was present at Jalala Khwar.

The police raided the area and an encounter took place resulting in the death of the outlaw and arrest of his two aides. The police also recovered two Kalashnikovs and a pistol from their possession. The outlaw, who was a civil engineering diploma holder, was wanted to Tangi police in murder of 19 people of his own family.

It merits a mention here that Gul Ahmed demanded of his father to arrange his wedding with his cousin, but his father refused and asked him to complete his education first and get employment. This infuriated him, allegedly gunning down his father, mother, brother and a sister-in-law on Nov 28, 2014.

Later on April 5, 2015, another FIR was registered in Tangi police station against him for killing his uncle and nine other members of his family. However, later a police investigation team also held brothers of Syed in the murder of their uncle and his family members.

All his three brothers, Lal Syed, Mohammad Zaman and Sher Rehman, are in jail.
