BATTAGRAM: Body of a seminary student was recovered from a maize crop field in Kuz Goryar area here on Tuesday after he was axed to death by rivals of his family.

The incident took place when eight-year-old Shah Nawaz, son of Sher Khan, was going to a nearby seminary, Jamia Raheemia in Kuz Goryar.

The parents started search for Shah Nawaz when he didn’t return home from the seminary.

However, his body was found lying in a maize field and shifted to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital, Battagram, for postmortem.

Doctors at the hospital said that the child was hit with stones and axed to death and then his body was thrown in the field.

Abdul Sattar, in-charge of Chanjal police station, said that Sher Khan, father of the victim student, had registered an FIR against Ishaq, Ilyas, Munawar Khan, Mohammad Arif, Fazle Haq, Amanul Haq, Shah Nazar and Taj Fareen. He told the police that the accused persons had a land dispute with him.

The local residents thronged the DHQ hospital to express sympathy with the bereaved family members. They demanded of the district authorities to arrest the accused persons as soon as possible.
