GUJRAT: The British national of Pakistani origin, Samia Shahid, who became the victim of honour killing, was raped by her former husband before being killed.

The forensic report of the sample of her body confirmed the rape and the DNA report of her former husband also matched with the sperms.

Chief of the investigation team DIG Abu Bakar Khuda Bakhsh has confirmed to Dawn that Samia had been raped by main suspect Chaudhry Shakil before being murdered by him which was revealed in the forensic report of the body. The DNA test of the suspect was also conducted and that report also proved that he had raped the deceased.

It merits mentioning that her body was also found from the room of Shakil since the houses of both the families of Samia and her former husband, who was also her first cousin, are located adjacently in the Pendori village of Mangla police precincts (Jhelum).

Abu Bakar said he had submitted his final report to the Punjab police chief with all the findings which showed Shakil and Samia’s father Chaudhry Shahid were guilty of killing her. Samia’s mother Imtiaz Bibi and sister Madiha had also abetted in the crime and managed to flee the country in connivance with then Mangla SHO Aqeel Abbas who had been booked and arrested under section 201 of the PPC.

He said the case had now been handed over to the Jhelum police that would submit the challan in the court of law for the trial of the suspects.Rawalpindi SSP Malik Sikandar Hayat, who has been holding the additional charge of the Jhelum DPO, told this correspondent by telephone that following the completion of the investigation report police would now further proceed as per law.
