KARACHI: Defending champions Wapda and last edition runners-up Higher Education Commission (HEC) set a repeat final while registering straight victories over their respective opponents in the two semi-finals of the KPT National Women’s Volleyball Championship at the KPT Sports Complex on Saturday.

Wapda proved that they are a force to be reckoned with when they sent Punjab packing 25-13, 25-9, 25-6 in the best of five first semi-final. The quartet of Madiha Latif, Samya, Bisma and Asma steered their team to success.

Hira, Sadia, Ghazala and Razia shone for the HEC who blanked hosts Sindh in similar fashion 25-16, 25-10, 25-10 in the second semi-final.

The final between Wapda and HEC will be played on Sunday at 4pm. This will be preceded by the playoff for the third-fourth place between Sindh and Punjab.

Meanwhile, Army seized fifth place when they defeated Azad Jammu and Kashmir 25-16, 25-17 in the classification match for the fifth-sixth positions.

In another match, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got the better of Balochistan 25-19, 25-18 to grab seventh position.
