BUNOL: 150,000 kilos of ripe, red tomatoes were delivered to the village of Bunol, west of the Spanish city of Valencia, on Wednesday in preparation of "La Tomatina".

The festival of tomatoes is a yearly occurrence in the village where tourists gather in large numbers to participate in the hour-long fight.

The festival has been a fixture in the village culture since the end of World War 2. But International exposure in the recent years has greatly increased the popularity of La Tomatina.

The village prepares for the fight by covering up balconies, houses and shopfronts in plastic and locking them down as thousands of participants, including both tourists and locals enjoy the day by reveling in a mad food fight all over the streets of Bunol.
