RAWALPINDI: Robbers looted Rs1.5 million in three separate robberies within a span of four hours on Monday, victims and police said.

Rashid Ali, a cell phone shop owner at Sadiqbad, told Dawn that he was busy with customers when two people came on a motorcycle and entered his shop posing as customers. “They pulled out their pistols and demanded cash,” Rashid Ali said.

He said the robbers grabbed Rs90,000 from the cash box and sped away after locking the door from outside. The victim went to the police station to register a case.

“I provided CCTV footage of the robbers to the police but none of the policemen has turned up so far to examine the crime scene,” Rashid said.

Muhammad Ali Shahzad, a businessman, was on his way home after withdrawing Rs910,000 from Sadar when he was intercepted by four armed robbers at Range Road.

He said that he was held at gunpoint by the robbers and snatched the cash bag from him and fled.

Ijaz Ahmed, another robbery victim complained to the Sadiqabad police that he was sitting at his shop when two persons entered the shop and snatched Rs50,000 from him and escaped.
