PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid has demanded the federal government register high treason cases under Article 6 of the Constitution against Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain for protecting the interests of India and Afghanistan in the region.

The demand was made by PML-Q central senior vice president Moazzam Butt during a news conference organised at the press club here to announce the formal joining of the PML-Q by several All Pakistan Muslim League Chitral activists.

Qari Saadullah led the AMPL activists, while PML-Q provincial president Intikhab Khan Chamkani also in attendance.

Mr. Butt said the ‘so-called’ nationalist leaders were doing politics in Pakistan but had no interest in working for the welfare of the people in their respective areas.

He said such politicians had no sympathies for Pakistan and Pakistan Army and that they had always supported and promoted the interests of India and Afghanistan in the region.

The PML-Q leader criticised those nationalist leaders for challenging the writ of the government in past.

He said it was the state’s responsibility to crack down on all those challenging the state’s writ on the directives of foreign mentors.

Mr. Butt said nationalist leader Asfandyar Wali Khan and Mehmood Khan Achakzai were anti-state and their loyalty was with India and Afghanistan and not with Pakistan and that Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain was also traitor.

He alleged that despite anti-Pakistan thoughts of nationalists, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif acted as a silent spectator proving that he was their ‘facilitator’.

The PML-Q leader condemned the killings of Kashmiris by Indian forces and complained international community had turned a blind eye to the violence against innocent people in the occupied Kashmir.

He said Kashmiris hadn’t committed any crime and instead, they’re subjected to aggression for raising voice for self-determination.

Mr. Butt said the entire nation should show solidarity with Kashmiris fighting Indian forces for freedom.

PML-Q leader Intikhab Chamkani said Pakistan was passing through a critical phase of its history and faced multiple challenges.

He said the challenges were both from within the country and outside and that many citizens were not sincere with the country.

Mr. Chamkani urged the federal government to take stern action against those involved in diatribe against Pakistan.

He welcomed newcomers to the party and said the last PML-Q government had to its credit the start of work on Lowari Tunnel project to the benefit of the people of Chitral.

The PML-Q leader said his party would begin mega development schemes in the neglected areas of the country after coming to power yet again.
