LAHORE: The Punjab government and Liver Transplant Centre of the Beijing Friendship Hospital, China, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for transfer of Chinese experience and expertise to the Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute in Lahore.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was present during the MoU signing ceremony held in Model Town on Wednesday.

Welcoming the agreement, Shahbaz hoped that [political] rivals would not move court of law on this project, a reference to litigation on the Orange Line Metro Train project. He said the Chinese team of experts that accompanied the Beijing Hospital officials would also visit the Sheikh Zayed Hospital to also supervise liver transplant procedures there.

Chinese Consul General Yu Boren said the MoU was the result of a successful visit to China by the chief minister. He also said work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects located in Punjab was going on swiftly.
