SANGHAR: Police on Sunday arrested a landlord who was on the run after subjecting a teenage Hindu girl to criminal assault a day before near Ghulam Mohammad Halepoto village within the jurisdiction of Khahi police station in Khipro taluka.

Police put the landlord Gul Hassan Samejo behind bars and registered against him a case under Section 376 PPC. He would be produced in court on Monday.

Police had the victim medically examined at Sanghar Civil Hospital late on Saturday night where doctors ascertained that she had been assaulted.

However, her samples were sent to Karachi for further investigation.

The 14-year-old girl was subjected to rape when she was going to fields carrying tea for his father who was working there. The victim’s father worked as a peasant for the accused.

Meanwhile, MPA Khatoo Mal contacted the victim’s family and offered them legal help to ensure justice for the victim. Several rights activists also condemned the incident and demanded justice for the girl.
