QUETTA: A lawyer, Jahanzeb Alvi, was shot dead by unknown armed men in the Brewery road area on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said that Advocate Jahanzeb Alvi was going to his home in the A-One City area in his vehicle when the armed men opened fire on his vehicle in Faisal Town area.

Mr Alvi suffered multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.

Police reached the area after the incident and moved the lawyer’s body to Bolan Medical College Complex hospital.

Police claimed that the cause of killing of Mr Alvi was a family dispute.

“Family dispute is behind the murder of lawyer Jahanzeb Alvi,” Deputy Inspector General of Quetta Police Chaudhary Sarwar said.

He said that police were investigating the matter and were conducting raids to arrest the men involved in the murder.

He said the attackers were on a motorcycle and escaped after the incident.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) President Bilal Kasi strongly condemned the murder of Advocate Alvi and announced two days’ boycott of courts proceedings.

“Lawyers will boycott courts for two days in protest against the murder of Mr Alvi,” Mr Kasi said and demanded immediate arrest of killers of the advocate.
