LAHORE: The government has decided to develop a model graveyard in Kot Kamboh to cater to the problems of the locals in burying bodies in existing graveyard in the area.
Kot Kamboh is a residential area of lower middle class near Old Bakar Mandi (near Babu Sabu interchange). The government obtained 28 kanals after it shifted the Bakar Mandi (goat market) to Shahpur Kanjran four years ago.
Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal told a meeting on Monday it was the dire need of the hour to execute and accomplish the project in a shortest span of time.
He told the officials to prepare PC-1 of the project and send it to the Planning and Development Department in a couple of days.
As per a plan, Lahore will have four new model graveyards. Similarly, two graveyards each will be constructed in Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Sargodha.PFA: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams sealed on Monday various eateries, food premises for flouting hygiene standards. Also, price control magistrates got 94 shopkeepers arrested on Monday and imposed a Rs31,000 fine on others for overcharging, hoarding and selling substandard commodities.
DENGUE: The City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) sought on Monday intensifying the ongoing anti-dengue drive and surveillance in the metropolis.
In a direction issued to the district health department on Monday, the CDGL said since the ongoing monsoon season demanded extraordinary measures to avert the possible spread of dengue virus, the officials must monitor field teams on regular basis.
