OKARA: A woman was axed to death by her husband over some domestic dispute on Sunday.

Nasreen Akhtar and Muhammad Ashraf of village L-Plot had sour relations. On Sunday, both again exchanged harsh words and Ashraf picked up an axe and inflicted fatal blows on Nasreen, a mother of three.

Ravi police have registered a case.

ACID ATTACK: A man threw acid on his wife over some family dispute here on Sunday in Sabri Colony.

Couple Asma and Muhammad Ashfaq used to quarrel over petty family issues.

On Sunday, the couple exchanged harsh words and Ashraf picked the bottle of acid present in the house and emptied it on his wife.

Asma suffered injuries and was shifted to DHQ hospital. A-Division police have registered a case.

EID GIFTS: Sahiwal Division Commissioner Babar Hayat Tarrar at a function on Sunday at Okara Arts Council distributed Eid gifts among the deserving.

The gifts included 76 wheelchairs, 100 white canes and 30 hearing-aid instruments.

Seventy-five physically and 47 mentally challenged people and 36 widows were given Eid gift packs.

DCO Socrat Aman Rana, DPO Muhammad Faisal Rana, EDO Rana Ashraf Javed and social workers Rai Ahmad Hassan and Chaudhry Waseem Ahmad were also present.
