GUJRAT: The University of Gujrat (UoG) has acquired some 100 acres of land in Narowal for the establishment of its sub-campus.

Funds (Rs253.994 million) for the land acquisition have been provided by the Punjab government on the recommendation of Federal Minister for Planning and Development Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal who hails from Narowal.

The funding for the construction of the building and other facilities will be provided by the federal government.

Sources in UoG said the land at Behbalwali and Kaka Padda villages on the main Narowal-Shakkargarh Road had been earmarked by the land revenue department for the purpose some two years ago however the land acquisition was completed on Tuesday last.

The campus will be established under the HEC-approved project of ‘Strengthening and Expansion of University of Gujrat and Allied Campuses’.

The sub-campus will have admin and academic blocks, library, multipurpose hall, hostels for faculty and students, guest house, faculty residences, mosque, boundary wall, roads, etc.
