LARKANA: While Larkana sizzled at 40 degrees Celsius, absence of electricity at the Larkana Central Prison for a third consecutive day led to the death of an inmate on Friday.

Mohammed Bukhsh Soomro was among five inmates who fell unconscious during the day due to extremely hot conditions and were rushed to the CMCH for medical treatment.

Conditions at the jail have turned more miserable since its power connection was cut off three days ago by the Sukkur Electric Power Company on account of unpaid bills amounting toRs22.5 million.
