Honest aims or ratings?

I wish to draw the attention of all readers towards a trend that is rapidly spreading in Pakistan. The month of Ramazan is sacred for all they across the globe, in which Muslims try to acquire as much blessings as they can by doing good deeds and also by acquiring more religious knowledge. However, our TV channels are not teaching anything about Islamic values and morals, instead they are spreading greed, envy and jealousy among people.

For instance, most of the TV channels focus on earning some cash through ratings; the hosts of these so called game shows and substandard quizzes, humiliate the guests in return of gifts. And people, on the other hand, are always willing to do every stupid and embarrassing acts, just so they can get a prize!

Ramazan transmissions should be in accordance with the teachings of Islam and should be focused upon the sanctity of this blessed month. Is all this not destroying the purpose of Ramazan? Open your eyes people! Respect the month and respect yourself!

Inflation in Ramazan

Ramazan is the most blessed Islamic month and a priceless gift of Allah for Muslims which brings great joy and excitement. But, unfortunately, things become very expensive in this holy month. Despite keeping fast, many people are unable to afford enough to eat as the prices of food items increase in Ramazan.

And this inflation crisis is also seen in Turbat, but the authorities and leaders in Turbat are not taking any action.

It is my request to the provincial government of Baluchistan to sort out this problem so that people can enjoy this blessed month.

Mutasim Sarduk,

Cook-it-yourself!

This is regarding the ‘Cook-it-yourself’ (YW, June 25) section. I enjoyed that simple “Five minute bread pizza” recipe because it was really easy to make it.

I would request YW to keep including these short recipes as they are practical and easy.

Never give up

This is with reference to the story “Never give up” by Afshan Naeem (YW, June 4). The story had a good lesson for all children and we should all follow that example.

Kids often give fake reasons to take leave from school which is really bad as it only leaves a bad impression on the teacher and it also spoils one’s reputation in the class.

So we should always speak the truth, at least there will be no guilt then.
