ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has banned popular TV game show Inam Ghar hosted by Aamir Liaquat Hussain for three days for airing indecent content.

The decision to ban the show from Tuesday (today) to Thursday was made at a meeting of the Sindh Council of Complaints of Pemra at its regional office in Karachi. The meeting was presided over by chairperson of the council Professor Inam Bari.

Earlier on June 14, a show cause notice was issued to the TV channel airing the show regarding its June 6 episode in which re-enactment of a girl’s suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan was shown.

There were also a couple of complaints about unethical discussions in the show.

The TV channel informed the meeting that it would submit a reply to the notice after 15 days.

The council decided to initially ban the show for three days, and in case of non-compliance, order the channel to suspend its transmission.

It warned the TV channel to abide by the code of conduct for electronic media and asked Mr Liaquat to apologise to people at the beginning of the show on July 1.

The next hearing for the TV channel will be held on the third day after the Eidul Fitr holidays.
