KARACHI: Ace spinner Saeed Ajmal showed a glimpse of his magic as Dollar East defeated Kaaf Engineering by four wickets in a low-scoring match of the Atiq Estates present Dollar East first Hill Park Ramazan Cricket Tournament to qualify for the semi-finals here on Saturday.

Kaaf Engineering had no answer to the wily Ajmal who grabbed five wickets for 22 runs in 3.1 overs to send the opponents crashing for 91 all out in the Group ‘B’ fixture at the Hill Park Ground.

Aaqib Rizvi was the chief run-getter with a 23-ball 36 that included three sixes and three fours, while Adeel Ahmed made 25 off 18 balls with three fours and one six and Abdul Rauf scored 20.

Leg-spinner Usman Qadir took two for 13 in four overs.

Dollar East reached their modest target of 92 in 18.4 overs while losing six wickets. Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt hit 27 from 34 deliveries and Khurram Shehzad remained unbeaten with a 32-ball 31.

Haider Ali claimed three wickets for 22 runs.

Ajmal was declared man-of-the-match and received his prize from Zaheer Ahmed Sheikh, director sports of Dollar East.

In the first semi-final on Wednesday, Medicam will take on KPT and Dollar East meet Atiq Estates in the battle of the tournament sponsors in Thursday’s other semi-final.
