BADIN: Speakers at a book launch ceremony held at Tando Bago press club on Thursday showered praise on Anwer Ali Abbasi for compiling the first ever book on the history of Tando Bago town, 21 kilometres from Badin.

Poet Ayub Khoso said that Mr Abbasi had made a great contribution to Sindh literature by penning the history of the town and said that every writer should write history of his area.

Prof Dr Mohammad Ismail Memon said that it was the first ever book on the town, which had produced giants like Mir Ghulam Mohammad Talpur who founded a school in the town.

Prof Nakash Alwani praised Mr Abbasi’s work and said it should be published in other languages as well so that people of other regions could also learn about the rich history of the town.

Fateh Mohammad Shehzad Thebo, historian, announced he would publish the next book of Mr Abbasi.

Firaq Halepoto, a poet of Sindhi and Udu languages, said the book comprised all important events that took place in the town, which was established by a member the ruling Talpur dynasty, Mir Bago Khan Talpur, who had renounced the throne and preferred to spend his life in the company of his beloved queen Sindh Rani.

Mohammad Khan Samoon, Pir Bux Sabir, Abu Bakar Shaikh, Khan Sahib Jamali, Mehdi Mohammad Khwaja, Usman Rahookro, Syed Jurial Shah Bukhari and others also spoke at the ceremony.
