KARACHI, Nov 22: Acute water shortage has been persisting in North Nazimabad’s Block-L for the last fortnight, forcing the residents of the locality to buy private tankers at exorbitant rates.

Residents of the locality deplored that despite repeatedly lodging complaints with the KWSB’s officials concerned, the normal supply had yet not been restored, which had made their lives miserable in the month of Ramazan.

They said that taking undue advantage of the shortage, private suppliers were nowadays charging Rs500 per tanker from them.

They demanded of the KWSB’s managing director to order the officials concerned to restore normal supply immediately to the locality before Eid.

Complaints of persisting water shortage have also been received from the residents of North Karachi’s Sector 11-C-3 and those residing on Lyari’s D D Chaudhry Road, Yousuf Haroon Road (West No 1 & 2), Kharadar, Mehmoodabad, Clifton’s Block 2.

Residents of Lyari’s D D Chaudhry and Yousuf Haroon Roads lamented that they were being supplied water only for about 10 minutes in a day, and that too was contaminated.

“Although we have tried to draw the attention of the KWSB’s officials concerned towards the lingering water shortage in our locality by writing more than 10 letters, all our such exercises have, so far, gone in vain,” they regretted.
