TAXILA: Maldives Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar, along with members of his delegation, visited the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) on Wednesday.

The Maldives delegation was received at the Pakistan Ordnance Factories by POF chief Lt General Omar Mahmood Hayat.

The distinguished guests visited several sections of the POF and saw production and manufacturing of arms and armaments.

They showed a keen interest in Pakistani arms and weapons and were impressed by capacity and capabilities of the armament industry of Pakistan.

During the visit, the defence delegates were informed that POF was the premier defence organisation which was not only meeting defence requirements of the armed forces of Pakistan but was also exporting its products to more than 30 countries around the world.

The delegates were further informed that POF had a gigantic complex comprising 14 directly controlled factories and plants, nine subsidiaries and a total work force of more than 26,000 people.

The delegation was informed that POF’s industrial base was strong enough to undertake development and production of almost all types of conventional arms and ammunition.
