KARACHI: The Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) on Wednesday announced that trials to select zonal squads for the PCB Inter-district (Karachi Region) Senior Cricket Championship will be conducted at the National Stadium this weekend.

Former Test batsman and Karachi region head coach Azam Khan, along with regional coach Zafar Ahmed and selectors of each zone will monitor the trials.

According to the programme, registered players belonging to Zone-I have been asked to appear for the trials at 9:00am on Saturday.

On the same day, the players from Zone-II will give trials at 11:00am, Zone-III at 1:00pm and Zone-IV at 3:00pm.

On Sunday, the remaining three zones will appear for trials with Zone-V players scheduled to appear at 9:00am, Zone-VI at 11:00am and Zone-VII at 12:00noon.

The KCCA has made it compulsory that players wishing to turn up for trials must be registered with the particular zone from where they intend to compete.

A KCCA official said that the new registration for players would stand valid from June 15, 2016 — the date from which the process of registration will be launched — until June 30, 2018.

The Karachi region event of the PCB tournament is slated to start from July 18 and conclude on Aug 13.
