KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Nisar Ahmad Khuhro has called the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) “a gang of undemocratic politicians” conspiring to usurp rights of the people, and promised to continue to face headlong such alliances and conspiracies.

The minister, who is also the coordinator appointed by the Pakistan Peoples Party to reorganise its Sindh chapter, was talking to the media in the Sindh Assembly building on Tuesday. Responding to a question, Mr Khuhro said that by demanding that the army take over, the GDA had exposed itself. “They are looking for some facilitator but anyone playing the role of the facilitator would invite the wrath of Article 6 of the Constitution.”

He said that members of the GDA were rejected politicians and as the democracy did not suit them, they were calling on the army.

He said that they had no right to call themselves politicians. Mr Khuhro also questioned why Ayaz Latif Palijo, who called himself progressive, was a silent spectator on the demands put forth by the GDA.

Mr Khuhro said that Pir Pagara always called himself a man of GHQ and as such there was no need to make any comment on his party. However, he said, as far as Liaquat Ali Jatoi was concerned, he did not have any support among the people which was why for some time he was in the PML-N and for a while with the PML-Q.

The minister expressed his belief that like always the opponents of democracy had no future.

In reply to a question, Mr Khuhro said the 12-hour loadshedding in Sindh had no justification and warned if the unannounced loadshedding in Sindh did not stop, the Sindh government would side with the people in staging a sit-in against the federal government.
