ISLAMABAD: Seeds in all categories advanced with ease to the second round of the inaugural Hascol National Ranking Tennis Championships here at the Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Monday.

Top-ranked Aqeel Khan cruised in the men’s singles, eliminating Shaheen Mehmood 6-2, 6-2 and joined Yasir Khan — who brushed aside Yousaf Khan of Peshawar at 6-0, 6-1 — and Mudasir Murtaza — a 6-0, 6-2 winner over qualifier Saqib Umer — in the second round.

There was a bye for top seed Muzammil Murtaza in the boys’ U-18 first round but the other seeds endured little difficulty in advancing.

Boys’ U-18 singles (first round): Hamza bin Rehan bt Nalain Abbas 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4); Parbat Kumar bt Zeeshan Bhachani 6-4, 6-2; Aman Atiq bt Talha bin Asif 6-3, 6-1; Samad Areejo bt Ashesh Kumar 6-4, 4-6, 6-3; Aqib Umer bt Nadir Bhachani 4-6, 6-1, 6-2; Syed Nofil Kaleem bt Kashan Umer 6-0, 6-0; Bilal Khan bt Sumit Das 4-6, 6-1, 6-4; Kashif Khan bt Musa Chaudhry 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
