School days

Many students who have just finished Matriculation exams and are about to join intermediate college but some of the pupils including me, are facing problem as our inner self is not permitting us to leave our childish attitude.

School is a place where you are not mature, where everything is plain fun and nothing too serious.

However, the college is the first step towards maturity, not only in age but also in academics where one is bound to take studies seriously and, of course, the environment urges one to act differently.

This is where students need more guidance and help from their elders so that they go through the whole transition period smoothly and accept it happily.

Benefits of trees

It is a fact that trees/plants are vital for human beings as well as for all living things on Earth. They add beauty to nature but, unfortunately, we ignore this truth and cut them carelessly.

Think for a while, if there remains not even a single tree in the world, the world will go barren and everything will ultimately die. Last year the temperature soared in Karachi, resulting in the deaths of many people due to heat stroke and suffocation; this was all because there are very fewer trees and green belts than what the city/country actually needs. There just aren’t enough for making the environment cool and stop the temperature from soaring.

I request the government to take serious steps in planting more trees and green belts; besides as the citizens of Pakistan, it is our responsibility as well to play our role in taking care of plants to make them a tree.

Teenage rocks!

This is regarding the story “Teenage rocks!” by Sara Pirzada (YW, April 30). I enjoyed reading the story and agree with the writer that we kids always feel that our elders are living a carefree life and we are actually busy and loaded with work. The truth was explained in the story very humorously.

It cannot be denied that our parents not only are physically busy but their minds are occupied with hundreds of things and we, perhaps, will never understand until we reach that age.
