Two-wicket win for United Sports

KARACHI, Nov 18: United Sports advanced to the semifinal of the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan festival, registering a narrow two-wicket triumph over Asghar Ali Shah CC at the Aga Khan Gymkhana ground on Tuesday.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Asghar Ali Shah CC scored 160 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 25 overs through Turab Hussain (38), Malik Rasheed and Asif Mughal with 25 runs apiece,

Spinner Misbah Khan picked up three wickets for 25 runs and medium pacer Sheryar Farruk two for 29.

After tottering at 48 runs for the loss of two wickets, United Sports clawed their way to victory reaching 164 for the loss of eight wickets with only one delivery to spare.

Shahid Aslam (47), Misbah Khan unbeaten with 40 and M. Akram (26) pulled their team out of the woods.

Khalid Butt four for 26 and Arif Mughal two for 34, tried their level best to guide their team through to victory, but their efforts were all in vain.

Wednesday’s fixture: Pak Gymkhana v Baqai Dolphins (quarterfinal) 1.00 p.m.
