PESHAWAR: Parliamentary leaders in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have agreed to table a joint resolution to ask the provincial government to give awards and promotion to the police officials, who arrested those suspected of being involved in the assassination of special assistant to the chief minister on minorities Sardar Soran Singh.

The agreement came during a meeting at the assembly secretariat here on Thursday.

Speaker of the assembly Asad Qaisar chaired the meeting, where Deputy Speaker Dr Maher Taj Roghani was also present, said an official statement.

The statement said the parliamentary leaders appreciated the professionalism of the Malakand region’s police, especially policemen of Buner district, for tracing and arresting the suspected killers of Soran Singh.

It said the arrest of the suspected killers had built the image of the provincial police in the country and abroad because Soran Singh’s assassination was a high-profile case.

Soran Singh, who was elected MPA on the PTI ticket from Buner, was killed in his hometown last month. The police were quick to arrest the main accused.

Speaker Asad Qaisar issued directions for the tabling of a joint resolution to be presented during the ongoing session of the assembly.
