THIS refers to the report ‘Bahria Town Karachi: greed unlimited (April 18) and letters on the subject (April 26). It paints a really worrying and depressing picture.

But even more worrying are rumours that in order to increase his reach and hold on power, the property developer has, through one of his employees, launched a political party from Karachi with national-level aspirations.

The ability of the (former) employee to live a lavish life without full-time employment or business and ability to raise millions of rupees for a ‘successful’ public meeting gives credence to the rumours.

Worst of all is that the MQM members have joined the new party. They allege the threats are being made to them to join the new party or face punitive action. Apparently, those ditching the MQM and joining the new party stand absolved of any wrongdoing.

This thought that apart from politicians, Pakistanis can’t rely on others either creates a feeling of abject misery and helplessness.

APROPOS the report ‘Bahria Town Karachi: greed unlimited’ (April 18). We as a nation are well aware that Mr Mustafa Kamal, the former Karachi Nazim, spends sleepless nights pondering over the deplorable conditions of civic amenities in the metropolis and the devolution of power to the grassroots level.

It would be most appropriate if Mr Kamal could call yet another explosive press conference flanked by his rebellion stalwarts and enlighten the nation about his views on the rampant landgrabbing, water and electricity theft by his new master-cum-employer from the ignorant citizens of Karachi.

From his track record it seems that it could take almost three years before his conscious would awake and be able to realise that he could no more worship his new idol and has to find a new one. His conspicuous silence may redefine his party name as ‘Park, Zar, Zameen Party’.
