MITHI: Four infants died at the Mithi Civil Hospital on Friday leading the death toll of children suffering from malnutrition and water-borne diseases in the drought-hit parts of Tharparkar to 305 since Jan 1, independent sources said.

Confirming the fresh deaths, official sources put the toll at 162. Two of the four children were identified as Sodhi and Sindhya.

Over 30,000 children with similar diseases have been brought to six health facilities of the district for treatment over the past four months.

Parents of many children currently receiving treatment at various health facilities in Mithi, Islamkot, Diplo and Chahhacro were found complaining of the indifferent attitude of doctors and paramedics, shortage of medicines and unavailability of essential equipment and services.
