RAWALPINDI: A 36-year-old man, who went missing four days ago, was found murdered allegedly by his wife with the help of another man.

Police said the body of Khawaja Awais, a resident of Lahore, was found from the New Town police area on Sunday. The head of the deceased was smashed apparently with stones.

Khawaja Rehman, a brother of the deceased, told the police that Awais married a woman in Rawalpindi who worked at a private company in Satellite Town three months ago.

He said soon after the marriage, a man from Kahuta, who worked with his brother’s wife, started visiting the couple’s house in Lahore.

“My brother along with his wife left their home in Lahore for Rawalpindi on Wednesday, saying he was taking his wife to her parents’ house in Rawalpindi. However, they did not reach the Rawalpindi city.” He said when he called his brother, his mobile phone was found switched off.

Quoting a relative, Rehman said his brother was seen along with his wife and the man going to Murree in a cab on Thursday. However, after that the couple could not be traced.

He said on Sunday he received a phone call from the police that an unidentified body had been found and kept in the mortuary of the Holy Family Hospital.

“I identified my brother’s body from his clothes as his face was smashed with stones,” Rehman told Dawn.

“My brother was kidnapped after being trapped on way to Rawalpindi and later murdered by his wife along with her friend.” Rehman said his brother dealt in jewellery but was not carrying any valuables when he left his house.

Sub-Inspector Zubair Ali said a murder case had been registered with the New Town police.

He said the police were searching for the wife of the deceased and her accomplice.
