Be grateful

This is regarding the story “Be grateful” by Hafsa Saeed (YW, February 27). I agree with the writer that these days technology has taken over most of the things that people used to do earlier and that’s why youngsters remain depended on them.

Kids spend most of their time in front of the TV, computers, tablets or laptops, which they should not do at this stage of their life when education should be their first priority; they should complete their homework, revise and read a lot.

And lastly, the most important thing is not to complain about things that they don’t have such as the latest gadgets. One should always think about those who don’t even have food and clothes, and always be thankful to God for being blessed and having more than we want.

The evolution of Disney princesses

This is regarding the cover story “The evolution of Disney princesses” by Maham Maooz Ansari (YW, April 2).

I am very impressed by the writer’s work. It was very fascinating to read about the different and famous Disney princesses of all time.

We have always been focussing on the visuals and the story. We are shown their beauty, charms, evil stepmothers or the curse of the witch; however, we never consider or observe how the Disney filmmakers have actually portrayed the princesses in the stories.

These movies should also serve other purposes such as showing good morals, etc. I really appreciate the writer for highlighting princesses like Merida, Elsa, Anna, Tiana, Rapunzel, and specially Pocohontas and Mulan, they sure have something unique and inspiring than their predecessors.

YW should continue with bringing to us quality articles to read. I appreciate the work of all the writers trying to prepare youngster for the life to come and bring them the best to read. May YW always prosper!

Women’s World T20

Recently, we witnessed the excitement, uproar and enthusiasm in the World T20 matches. Unfortunately, Pakistan’s performance was below expectations.

But to be honest, the matches that the male cricketers played crushed our spirits, while women cricketers gave us more to be proud of them.

However, it is so sad that there wasn’t a single local TV channel showing women team’s cricket matches.

Isn’t it an injustice? Or sort of discouragement? Male sportspersons are still holding their supreme position but the women are deprived of basic attention.
