QUETTA, Nov 16: Eight villages of Gwadar would be provided electricity supply at a cost of Rs13 million soon, Quetta Electricity Supply Company Chief Executive Officer Brig Tassaduq Hussain Shah has said.

“These villages will be linked with Iran for electricity supply,” he told a gathering in Gwadar and added that work on the projects had been started.

He said Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali had issued directives for power supply to the villages.

He said the supply of electricity from Iran to Gwadar, which was linked with the Makran grid in March, had been started through the Mand-Jekigore transmission line.

He said installation of an 11kv feeder for Gwadar city had been completed at a cost of Rs3 million and power supply from it had been started on Nov 11. All old and corroded transmission lines of the 11kv coast guard feeder had been replaced at a cost of Rs2 million, he said.

He expressed satisfaction over the payment of electricity bills in Gwadar but expressed concern over heavy line losses in the area.
